    The Black Caps have made a strong start to their four day tour match against Essex


    At stumps on day one the New Zealanders are 342 for 3, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first.

    Captain Tom Latham retired on 65 not out, fellow opener Will Young also retired unbeaten on 55 as did Michael Bracewell and Tom Blundell, both 51 not out.
