Ukrainian forces say they have shot down a Russian fighter plane while Russia claims to have made gains in Ukraine's east

The Russian bomber was shot down in the Donetsk province.

Photos show charred remains of an aircraft after it landed on a house that caught fire.

Russia's Defense Ministry says it has taken control of the village of Zhelanne Druhe in Donetsk.
