Catherine, Princess of Wales will attend Remembrance events in London over the weekend

The 42-year-old royal has slowly been returning to public duties after undergoing abdominal surgery and subsequent preventative chemotherapy treatment, and Buckingham Palace have now confirmed she will be present for the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday (09.11.24) evening and the service at the Cenotaph on Sunday (10.11.24)

Queen Camilla's attendance has yet to be confirmed as she withdrew from engagements this week after contracting a chest infection and she will take medical advice nearer the time.

The confirmation of Catherine's attendance comes after her husband Prince William admitted 2024 has been "brutal" as both his wife and father King Charles underwent cancer treatment.

Asked on his trip to South Africa how his year has been, he replied: "Honestly? It's been dreadful. It's probably been the hardest year in my life.

"Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.

"But I'm so proud of my wife, I'm proud of my father, for ¬handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it's been, yeah, it's been brutal."

Catherine revealed in a video message in March she was undergoing cancer treatment, then in September issued another video saying she had finished her chemotherapy and was taking each day as it comes.

William gave another rare update on his wife's health amid his four-day visit to South Africa for his Earthshot Prize ceremony.

He said of his wife: "She's doing really well thanks. And I hopefully she is watching tonight. Cheering me on.

"She's been amazing this whole year. I know she will be really keen to see tonight be a success."
