Some signs of a turn-around, in at least parts of the economy

Stats NZ is reporting a monthly increase in jobs numbers in November -- the first in eight months.

Economists still expect unemployment to surpass five-percent this year, with the country still in a technical recession.

But Westpac Senior Economist Michael Gordon says job numbers appear to be increasing in health and education.

He says there was a notable pick up in the arts and recreation services, most likely due to tourism.
