The reaction to Shane Reti being replaced as Health Minister could be quite mixed

The reaction to Shane Reti being replaced as Health Minister could be quite mixed

Prime Minister Chris Luxon's putting Simeon Brown in charge - dropping Reti down the rankings.

Health commentator Ian Powell says there's been a lot of disappointment in Reti over the Government's policy decisions - like repealing smoking legislation - especially given his medical experience.

But he says Reti had a better understanding of the health system than most ministers.

Powell says if Brown understands there are things he doesn't know about the health system and tries to find out about them, he'll be off to a better start.

Meanwhile, Nicola Willis is picking up a new Economic Growth portfolio - as part of the Government's economic agenda.
