Kelly Carlson feels "shocked and saddened" by Julian McMahon's death

The actor died from cancer on July 2, aged 56, and Kelly - who played his on-screen love interest in Nip/Tuck - has now taken to social media to react to the news, admitting that she feels "completely shocked"

The 49-year-old actress said in a video posted on Instagram: "I just heard about the passing of Julian McMahon and I've gotten a lot of really nice messages on Instagram and I just checked 'cause I was just told and I was trying to verify it, right? Because people can say stuff like that, but it looks to be true - and oh, my gosh, I'm completely shocked and saddened by it.

"I didn't know he wasn't well for a while. But I will say my heart goes out to Kelly, his wife, his daughter and Brooke Burns, his ex-wife, who they remain close friends and raise their daughter together and I think he has a sister..."

Kelly subsequently described her former co-star as a "good friend".

She said: "It's tough to process a little bit because he played my on-and-off husband for several years, [he] was a good friend and my acting partner. Anyways, Jules, thank you for a great seven years on Nip/Tuck together and we had so much fun."

Kelly also observed that Julian had a "great life".

The actress said: "I hope he had a peaceful journey. I wish him a peaceful journey and I know he had a full, great life so that's a good thing."

Julian's passing was announced by his wife Kelly McMahon on Friday (04.07.25).

In a statement given to Deadline, she said: "With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.

"Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.

"We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories."
