Alicia Silverstone finds it "very moving" to watch her late mom's secret cameo appearance in Clueless

The 49-year-old actress has revealed her mother Didi Silverstone - who died six years ago in 2019 - is featured in her hit 1995 movie as a wedding guest at the end of the movie and Alicia gets emotional when looking back at the scene because it's "lovely" to see her mom again on film.

During a question-and-answer session at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York on Wednesday (12.11.25), Alicia explained: "In the wedding scene, my mom is in the back.

"She died, this night, six years ago. So it's really lovely to have because I love her. And miss her. So it was very moving to see that moment and go like: 'Oh my God, it's my mommy'.

"And tonight's the night. Tonight's the night she passed. So, that's very nice."

Alicia went on to add her mother would have been delighted to see Clueless being celebrated 30 years on from its release.

She said: "I was with her when she passed. She would be really happy this was happening. She really liked all of this."

Alicia then told the audience: "Anyway, not to bring the mood down. Clueless has been amazing. It delights people ... I could have never known."

The actress previously remembered her mother in an emotional post on her website to mark Mother's Day in 2021.

Alicia wrote: "I loved my mommy. Her smell. Her skin. Her hands and feet. She was so beautiful, every part of her.

"My mother lived lightly on the earth, she planted seeds in me, she loved animals, and she taught me to never be materialistic or waste anything ...

"'I hope I've been a good enough mother for you', she said in those final months.

"Even if things didn't go the way we would have liked, I know you did the best you could. And I forgive you for anything you're worried about.'

"I told her lovingly: 'You know what, mom, you taught me to love animals and not be wasteful, and I became an animal activist and eco-warrior'.

"And that made her really happy."

Alicia added: "A friend of mine who lost his mom the year before I lost mine gave me some sound advice. 'Be present with her in the end, just be there for the last breath.' And I was. Holding her for the final 48 hours of her life as she took her exit.

"I melted into this experience of taking care of my mom during those years. It was a gift."
