A Swiss man will spend Christmas in New Zealand - ahead of sentencing in January for careless driving causing death in Canterbury's Sheffield last month

A Swiss man will spend Christmas in New Zealand - ahead of sentencing in January for careless driving causing death in Canterbury's Sheffield last month

Open Justice reports 68-year-old Glenda Sally Douglas died, and two others were injured, in the two-vehicle collision on State Highway 73.

Patrick Keusch has pleaded guilty to careless driving causing death.

The 32-year-old told police he didn't see the woman's Suzuki Swift, when he crossed the centre line into its path, making a right turn.

His lawyer calls it a terrible tragedy, and says the man's offering to cover the cost of the Douglas's funeral.
