Worksafe's taken early enforcement action against a Christchurch daycare, where five children and two staff suffered chemical burns

Detergent for a kitchen sterilizer unit ended up on a slip-and-slide at Ferry Road's Kindercare earlier this month.

Worksafe's southern regional manager Adrian van Dyk says an improvement notice's been issued, as the centre wasn't sufficiently managing risks to health and safety, associated with hazardous substances.

It recommends the centre reviews this and implements a process that meets Health and Safety regulations.

Kindercare has until Thursday to provide proof of compliance.
