    American alpine ski veteran Lindsay Vonn has been airlifted to a Swiss hospital after crashing during her final downhill run ahead of the Winter Olympics


    The 41-year-old was left limping and keeping weight off her left knee after the crash in low visibility conditions.

    The event was then cancelled - with Vonn's incident meaning three of the first six racers had crashed.
