FKA Twigs "didn't expect" to win a Grammy Award

The 38-year-old singer received the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album for Eusexua, her cutting-edge concept record that featured the singles Perfect Stranger and Drums of Death, and she admitted to being surprised by her own success, as she claimed the accolade at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday (01.02.26).

After receiving her award, Twigs said: "I didn't expect to come up here. I was just so happy to be nominated."

Twigs - who was nominated for the gong alongside Fred Again, PinkPantheress, Rufus Du Sol and Skrillex - also offered some words of advice to up-and-coming artists.

The singer released her debut EP, which was titled EP1, back in December 2012, and she reminded fans and other artists that her success has been hard-earned.

The Pendulum hitmaker - whose real name is Tahliah Barnett - explained: "I know that to a lot of people, I may be new, but I've actually been doing this a really long time.

"So to any artist, don't give up. Follow your vision. Because that's what's going to make the world fall in love with your art."

Twigs previously revealed that she learned to listen to herself through the course of making Eusexua.

The singer explained that the creative process had a profound impact on her own way of thinking.

Speaking to ELLE, she shared: "I've always wanted to be at this perfect cross point of growth and youth - to be able to be young and sexy and healthy - and also not be an idiot like I was in my 20s."

Twigs also distanced herself from the idea that she's a "pop star".

She said: "I just want everything to be about my work.

"The most interesting part of me is what I do. It's not who I am.

"I'm not a pop star. And I don't want to be regarded in that way. I don't want to have to hold my work up and judge success by data or stats, but [by] the impact it has on culture and the way it makes people feel."
