Social Development Minister Louise Upston's being slammed for legislating over a High Court ruling that saw MSD unable to claim back payments from some beneficiaries

The law overrides last year's ruling that stopped MSD from being able to recoup extra assistance given to beneficiaries waiting for ACC cover.
Green MP Ricardo Menendez March says he raised concerns with Upston about how this would impact those in long running abuse claims.
He says the Government was asked to exempt abuse survivors but refused.
Menendez March says if the Minister wanted to prevent harm being done to those groups she could have made it happen.
