A commercial fishing vessel that ran aground near Kaikoura has been successfully brought onshore

A commercial fishing vessel that ran aground near Kaikoura has been successfully brought onshore

Small crayfishing boat 'Ruff Enuff' was stranded near Goose Bay yesterday - leaking hundreds of litres of diesel into the water.

Environment Canterbury's on-scene commander Richard Purdon says a digger has got it out on the roadside.

He says about 600 litres of diesel fuel was lost.

Purdon says no affected wildlife has been seen yet - but a response team is surveying the area in case.
