One of New Zealand's most notorious criminals - who's spent 41 years of his life behind bars - is about to be released

One of New Zealand's most notorious criminals - who's spent 41 years of his life behind bars - is about to be released

The Parole Board says Dean Wickliffe is no longer an undue risk to society - and he will be released on parole.

Wickliffe has had more than 33 convictions since 1972, for offences including manslaughter, burglary, and drug offending.

But Corrections staff say the 69-year-old is polite and pleasant.

He'll be released on June 2, with a three month curfew.
