Some disappointment for Maori in the wake of the latest Cabinet appointments

Some disappointment for Maori in the wake of the latest Cabinet appointments

Jacinda Ardern has revealed her new executive - which includes five Maori inside Cabinet, two outside Cabinet and one under-secretary.

Political commentator Rawiri Taonui says Maori are still not well represented in some of the major portfolios like infrastructure, economic development and finance.

He says there's also no Minister of Te Reo Maori - something that was mooted last year.

Taonui says those two things let the side down a bit.
