A need to support and encourage our kids to read at home

A need to support and encourage our kids to read at home

In the 2016 Progress in International Reading Literacy Study, New Zealand year five students were most likely to have computer access during reading instruction.

But their reading levels dropped below all other English speaking countries.

Ministry of Education chief science advisor Stuart McNaughton says the amount of reading kids do at home, is related to achievement, and enjoyment.

He says whanau and parents have an important role to play.
