Many of us were out spending on Boxing Day

Many of us were out spending on Boxing Day

New figures from Paymark show bargain hunters spent 62.2 million dollars on Saturday. -- excluding hospitality.

That figure is down 2.2 per cent on last year.

But Paymark spokesperson Paul Brislen says it's much better than expected -- given the year we've had.

He says spending was up 20 per cent compared with some Saturdays in early November -- which will make retailers happy.
