    He had been to the occasion as a Warriors player in 2002, coach in 2011 and Penrith mentor last year.

    The Panthers defeated South Sydney 14-12 to claim a third NRL premiership and first since 2003, making amends for the 2020 defeat.

    Cleary says they deserved the result.
