    The identity of a man charged with the murder of a woman in Christchurch overnight is remaining suppressed for now


    Emergency services were called to reports of an assault in New Brighton about 10.30 last night.

    They arrived to find a woman in her 40s unresponsive, and she died on her way to hospital.

    Judge Gerard Lynch has remanded the man to February 11 and granted interim name suppression.

    He will appear in the High Court.
