    Scientists say a proposal to charge farmers for their emissions is part of New Zealand's bigger reduction journey


    Agriculture-led group He Waka Eke Noa's report suggests how farmers can calculate and pay by 2025.

    The sector is currently exempt.

    Ag Research Senior Scientist Robyn Dynes says the industry-Government partnership may not be perfect, but this is a positive step in the right direction.

    She says the pricing approach allows flexibility and agility... so it's the best place to start.
