A supermarket worker who was fired for not covering her blue hair says she tried all avenues to solve the dispute

A supermarket worker who was fired for not covering her blue hair says she tried all avenues to solve the dispute

Open Justice reports Annelisa Lummis was working at Wellington's Stokes Valley New World in 2020, when she was asked to hide her hair with a hat.

She knew she wasn't contractually required to do so, protested the decision and was later laid off.

The Employment Relations Authority investigated earlier this year and forced the employer to pay the student nearly 10-thousand-dollars.

Lummis says she wishes her employer handled the issue better.

She says she did everything on her part to resolve the situation ... but she was met with harsh comments.
