It's been a slow end to the year for one of our largest retail companies

It's been a slow end to the year for one of our largest retail companies

Retail company Briscoe Group has downgraded its profit guidance, after a slower than expected December.

Worldline figures show Boxing Day retail spending across all core retailers was up 13-percent on last year.

However, Briscoes Group Managing Director Rod Duke says while its Christmas and Boxing Day trading was better than Black Friday, it was still lower than anticipated.

The David Jones store in Auckland's Newmarket is also reporting falling sales revenue, although the company's bottom line is improving.
