The French 38-year-old has won through to the final of Auckland's ASB men's tennis Classic with a straight sets win over Nishesh Basavareddy .

Roger Federer holds the current record at 38 years two months with his victory in the 2019 Swiss Indoors - Monfils would be around two months older.

He says he is proud of his efforts on centre court today.

It's a set all between Zizou Bergs and Nuno Borges in the other semi-final.
