    A Christchurch Maori immersion school is finally getting a new home, after a 16-year battle with the Ministry of Education over leaky classrooms


    Te Whanau Tahi's current site on Lyttelton Street was built on a former landfill and ranked low on the rebuild list after the city's earthquakes.

    A 2020 agreement to rebuild was later scrapped

    The kura kaupapa will now shift to the old Seven Oaks School site in Halswell.

    The ministry says it's a safer and more suitable environment that better supports the educational and cultural needs of the school.

    A timeline has still to be confirmed.
