    Police are yet to determine the cause of a crash that's left one person dead in Bay of Plenty


    44-year-old Ngahina Takarangi died on Tuesday when a car plunged into a river near Whakatane, leaving another person with serious injuries and closing State Highway 2 for hours.

    Police are appealing for anybody who witnessed the crash, or saw a red Honda Accord travelling in and around Taneatua around 6pm on Tuesday.
