Chloe Zhao celebrated the "bravery and dedication" of people in the movie industry as she accepted the Best Film - Drama for Hamnet at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards

The 43-year-old filmmaker first paid tribute to absent members of the crew who have been "struggling" with grief when accepting the night's final award before paying tribute to everyone in the room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

Flanked by those who had worked on the film, including stars Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, she said: "The village of Hamnet that made this film together

"Some of [the crew] lost their loved ones while we were making this film, and some are still struggling. We just want to say that we are thinking of you, we are here because of you, and we love you.

"Paul said something to me this morning, he said, making Hamnet made him realise the most important thing of being an artist is learning to be vulnerable enough to allow ourselves to be seen for who we are, not who we ought to be, and to give ourselves fully to the world, even the parts of ourselves we're ashamed of, that we're afraid of, that are imperfect, so the people we speak to, they can also learn to see themselves and fully accept themselves.

"I look around this room and there are so many I have known for many years, my incredible fellow nominees, I'm looking at Ryan Coogler... I see so many of you have became so strong and tender at the same time and you have shared so much of yourselves in your work so I salute your bravery and dedication.

" Let's do this together, let's keep our hearts open, keep seeing each other and keep allowing ourselves to be seen."

Hamnet took the honour ahead of Frankenstein, It Was Just an Accident, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Sinners.

Meanwhile, Paul Thomas Anderson capped off a successful evening when One Battle After Another won the Best Film - Music or Comedy prize after he had already picked up Best Director and Best Screenplay.

While he was part of the group who collected the award, speech duties went to producer Sara Murphy, who paid tribute to late assistant director Adam Somner.

She said: "Thank you to the Golden Globes voters. This is an incredible honour, and also to be here amongst so many friends and amazing films this year.

"I want to agree with Paul that this has been one of the most incredible filmmaking experiences, once in a lifetime, due largely in part to the person that we share this award with, the late Adam Somner, who we miss every day.

"Thank you to this cast. What an embarrassment of riches and talent.

"I want to say, I love you to my family... And finally, I want to say thank you to Paul Anderson, it is a privilege and a pleasure to work with you."

Also shortlisted for the award were Blue Moon, Bugonia, Marty Supreme, No Other Choice, and Nouvelle Vague.
