The death of a man who was pulled unresponsive from the water in Thames yesterday is being referred to the coroner

Thames Coastguard says it received reports of a capsized vessel and two people in the water off Tararu Beach.

Volunteers responded and found both people had made it to shore.

The crew assisted with CPR on one person and also used a defibrillator until emergency services arrived.

Despite medical assistance, one person died at the scene.

The other person was taken to hospital by ambulance.
