    Meridian's strong bounce-back in the second half of last year has renewed talk of hydro expansion


    The gentailer's posted a 227-million-dollar net profit after tax - reversing a 121-million-dollar loss in the previous period.

    It's being put down to the second-best hydro inflows to date - and record wind output.

    Meridian hasn't revealed plans for any new generation projects - but says it's exploring hydro development options for the first time in decades.
