Businesses still see hope on the horizon, but recovery still remains slower than expected

NZIER's Quarterly Survey of Business Opinion shows a net 27-percent of respondents expect conditions to improve.

That's up from 23-percent three months ago.

However, many businesses are still shedding staff and cutting investment due to weak demand.

ANZ's latest survey also shows a steady rise in confidence.
