Bam Margera has celebrated a year of sobriety after "deleting" all the "negative" influences from his life

The former Jackass star spent years battling substance abuse issues and legal troubles, but he's now revealed he's been clean for more than 12 months after celebrating his "sober day" on September 28

He told TMZ.com: "I reached a year - September 28th is my sober day ..."

Bam, 46, went on to compare himself to troubled pop star Britney Spears and insisted he got back on track with the help of his wife Dannii Marie and removing a number of people from his contacts.

He said: "I was in the same situation [as Britney Spears] I didn't know who to believe, I didn't know who to trust.

"And finally, when I deleted everybody from my life that was, you know, in a negative way, or always trying to tell me to get help, as soon as I deleted them, I don't need any more help."

Bam also revealed his wife helped by giving him an "ultimatum" - telling him she would consider him to be "cheating" on her if he touched alcohol again - with the star adding: "She completely fixed me."

Bam was previously married to Missy Rothstein between 2007 and 2012 and he has a son with his second wife Nicole Boyd.

He married Dannii last year and he used his wedding vows to thank her for helping him get sober after years of addiction issues.

Speaking on his wedding day, Bam explained: "Exactly one year ago, I was checking into the Sunset Marquis in Los Angeles to check out. I bought enough drugs to not want to wake up and I said, 'God if I do wake up, eff you, but you better deliver me the hottest eye candy with A-cup t**s and a tan pitbull'."

He went on to add a touching message to his bride, telling her: "I love you and I'll love you forever and I'll take care of you. You got rid of all the d***heads and goons and made me stop drinking and got me back to skateboarding and I cannot thank you enough."
