Dougray Scott's life has been "immeasurably better" since he gave up alcohol

The Mission: Impossible 2 star - who turned 60 on Tuesday (25.11.25) - has revealed he used to drink a lot when he was younger, but he's now been sober for more than two decades and he doesn't "miss it for a second".

He told Richard Eden's Eden Confidential column in the Daily Mail newspaper: "I used to drink a lot when I was younger - and other things. And now I don't.

"It's been a long time where I haven't done any of that stuff - 23 years.

"I don't miss it for a second. My life is immeasurably better. I've got so many things to occupy me now. I'm so much happier."

Dougray is father to son Milo, 10, with his actress wife Claire Folani as well as 27-year-old twins Gabriel and Eden with his ex-wife Sarah Travis.

As well as focusing on his family, the actor previously admitted he plays golf to unwind because he finds it "therapeutic and meditative",

He told The Telegraph newspaper: "[I] play golf, incessantly. I've been doing so since I was a boy. My father played, my brother played, my brother-in-law ... everyone does in Scotland.

"I was also born in St Andrews, the birthplace of golf. I play a few times a week, sometimes once every four weeks. For me, it's therapeutic and meditative: exercise for the body and brain."

He went on to add: "[I've played on] hundreds [of golf courses]. I take my clubs wherever I go. Currently, I'm a six handicap - so, not bad."

The actor also revealed he enjoys sunny holidays in the south of France and loves to take short breaks in his native Scotland, while he also recommends Paris as his top tip for a weekend away.

He told the publication: "Paris; if you don't like it, there must be something wrong with you.

"We stayed at the Hotel de Crillon the last time we were there, so we could walk pretty much everywhere. There's nothing better than walking in Paris at night.

"I love walking in London, too, on a summer's evening, through Soho into Green Park, then on to Chelsea."
