Martin Grelis has died at the age of 57

The Matrix actor's passing was confirmed on Tuesday (16.12.25) by his talent agency Sophie Jermyn Management, but no details of the cause of his death have been shared.

Alongside a smiling photo of Martin, they wrote: "Vale Martin. We're so saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved client.

"Martin was a bright spark who lit up every room he was in - a talented actor, a kind person and a wonderful soul.

"Our condolences and thoughts are with his family and loved ones in this difficult time. Gone far too soon xx. (sic)"

Filmmaker Gabriella Maselli McGrail was left devastated and shocked by the news.

She commented on the post: "Absolutely devastating, my heart is torn. Martin was the kindest soul, helped me on my film handcrafting and donating his incredible surfboards, always ready to jump in and collaborate, have a laugh,

"I wondered why my message wasn't returned yesterday, I'm in shock. My heartfelt condolences to his family, his beautiful son, his friends and agents. A true gentleman and creative, the world is harshly worse off without him."

Another acquaintance, Alexandra Davies, an actress, writer and acting coach, also described the "heartbreaking" news as a "shock".

She commented: "NOOOO!! This is terribly sad news. Martin was always such an honourable and kind soul in the many times I worked with him.. one of the good ones.. this is heartbreaking [broken heart emoji] condolences to his family and friends.. what a shock [crying emoji] (sic)"

As well as his small role opposite Keanu Reeves in The Matrix, the Australian actor had a career that spanned almost three decades, with roles including 2014 miniseries Schapelle, All Saints, Water Rats and Mabo.

His final acting role came earlier this year in TV series Alpha King alongside Last King of the Cross actress Mia Pimentel.
