Sophie Turner is open to reprising her role as Sansa Stark in a Game of Thrones sequel series

The 29-year-old actress played Sansa in all eight series of the hit fantasy show - which ran between 2011 and 2019 - and Sophie has now dec lared she could return if creator George RR Martin moves ahead with plans to continue the story but it would be "hard" because she was happy with the way the show ended for her character.

When asked about a return to Game of Thrones, Sophie told Thedirect.com: "Show me the money. I don't know, I think it would be hard but also amazing to come back to it.

"But I feel that I was very happy with the way Sansa ended her story in Game of Thrones, and no one else was really happy with their ending. I feel like I got a good one, and so I don't know if I could revisit it."

Sophie went on to add: "Maybe it would be an utter joy, or maybe it would be trying to cling on to something that was magic back in the day that can't be recreated. I would have to see a script."

Game of Thrones has already spawned two spin-off prequel series - House of The Dragon and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is due to debut later this month.

However, Martin - who wrote the books the franchise was based on - recently hinted the Game of Thrones story could also be continued in sequel series.

During an appearance at the Iceland Noir Festival in November, Martin reportedly said: "Aside from [A] Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon, there are other Game of Thrones spin-off projects in development.

"Most are prequels. There are several in development, five or six series; and I'm not developing them alone, I'm working with other people. Yes, there are some sequels."

Another prequel series called Aegon's Conquest - about Aegon Targaryen's mission to unite the Seven Kingdoms - and another called 10,000 Ships - based on the story of Princess Nymeria - are both believed to be in development by the HBO studio.
