MetService is predicting calmer weather after a week of heavy rains and wind

It has a heavy rain watch in place for Dunedin, Clutha and mainland Southland until 3pm.

It says there could be periods of heavy rain and amounts may approach warning criteria in certain localised areas.

It says there's a low chance of it actually being upgraded to a warning.

Throughout the week, MetService says the risk of severe weather is minimal.
