Peter Andre credits his wife and daughters for helping him to overcome his nerves about being a "girl dad"

The 52-year-old singer has three daughters - Princess Andre, 18, with his ex-wife Katie Price, as well as Millie, 12, and 22-month-old Arabella, with wife Emily MacDonagh - and while he used to "freak out" about being a father to girls, he is now more relaxed after "learning a lot" over the years.

Writing in his new! magazine column, Peter said: "Emily recently described me as being such a 'girl dad'.

"I've learned a lot! The things that used to freak me out don't freak me out anymore.

"I come from a generation where our parents were really strict and certain things weren't talked about.

"When I had kids, I was a bit like that at the start but I wanted to be more understanding.

"Dads can be nervous about things with their daughters, but my girls and Emily have helped me.

"It's definitely a good thing because now Millie and Princess can talk to me about anything.

"As for Belle, she can't talk yet so we will see."

Peter and Emily - who also have nine-year-old son Theo - married in 2015, and the Mysterious Girl singer has told how the couple have recently tried to make time for a "day or night out" together once a month.

He added: "Emily and I have always focused on the children, of course, but we realised in the last few months that we needed to start looking at date nights again.

"It's really important, but not always easy.

"We make sure the youngest are in bed at a certain time, so we can be alone, and book in a day or a night out once a month."

Last year, Peter - who also has son Junior Andre, 20, with his ex Katie - told how his "biggest fear" was that he wouldn't like his children's partners.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Do you know what, I have to say, the biggest fear, I think for me, when they were growing up and people don't know what teenagers are like.

"I found them easy teenagers but the problem is - it's not with those two - but the problem for parents, what I find is when they have a partner, you either like the partner or you push them away.

"Thankfully, I liked Princess' boyfriend and thankfully, I love both of them, I loved Princess' previous boyfriend when she had one - and Jasmine, we love her, thank God. They're dream teenagers now."
