Michelle Obama got 10 new ear piercings in one sitting

The former First Lady of the United States, 62, went into a piercing shop with the intention of having "a few" new body punctures, after being inspired by the "young people" in her life, but it took her husband, former US President Barack Obama, "a couple of days" to notice her new piercings.

During a chat with her brother and co-host Craig Robinson on her IMO podcast, he said: "What I've learned is that you tried to get your ears pierced and thought I didn't notice.

"And I see you got all these new piercings in your ear."

A shocked Michelle - whose daughters Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24, both have multiple piercings - said: "I don't think you noticed.

"I have always thought about getting some extra piercings in my ear and just never got around to it.

"I had a second [piercing] hole that I had got before I had kids. But then I just got lazy and stopped putting an earring in it.

"But nowadays, the young people in my life are doing more piercings. There's just more beautiful adornment.

"You see more of a cluster, a constellation, with twinkles."

Asked by her sibling how many new piercings she had, Michelle replied: "I was going in for a few," but said she told the shop employee: "'Oh, put one there and put one [there]. Oh yeah, let's try one there.'

"So in one sitting, I've got 10 piercings."

Craig replied "ouch", but Michelle insisted it "wasn't bad at all".

While her brother noticed her new ear additions, Michelle admitted her husband didn't spot her new influx of piercings at first.

She added: "Barack, [it] took him a couple of days.

"He was like, 'You haven't had your hair up, you've had your hair down.' And I was like, 'I don't know. I like sleep with you every night, dude, you know?' "
