Kaley Cuoco's fiancé Tom Pelphrey has never watched her hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory

The 40-year-old actress played waitress Penny in the long-running CBS sitcom which also starred Johnny Galecki as Penny's love interest Leonard Hofstadter, Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper, Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz and Kunal Nayyar as Raj Koothrappali.

Despite the popular comedy - which celebrated nerd culture and science - running for 12 seasons and 279 episodes from 2007 to 2019, and being watched by millions of viewers around the globe, Tom had never seen the show when he met Kaley.

Kaley has revealed Tom, 43, was very confused when the Guiding Light actor he took her to meet his family and his mother Laurie's partner kept calling her by her Big Bang Theory character's name.

Appearing on The Graham Norton Show, she said: "He had no idea about it when we met. The first time I met Tom's family his mom's partner kept calling me 'Penny'. I didn't say anything because I thought it was sweet, but I could see Tom looking confused, and when we got in the car he said, 'I am so sorry, I told him your name so I've no idea why he called you Penny all day.' I had to explain it was from the show. And, he still hasn't seen it!"

Kaley is starring new MGM+ mystery drama series Vanished in which she plays Alice Monroe whose partner goes missing during a romantic getaway in Paris.

Kaley admits filming had its challenges because she had to be on a train for numerous scenes which triggered her claustrophobia.

Speaking about Vanished, she said: "It's a good four-parter - it's fast moving and looks great, but I hate trains - I'm claustrophobic and I get nauseous - so I was worried about filming on a real train - I had thought we would film against a backdrop. The way it made me feel definitely helped me get into character."

Kaley and Tom met in April 2022 at the premiere of the Netflix crime drama Ozark - in which he played Ben Davis - after being introduced by their manager.

The couple announced their engagement in August 2024 and they have a two-year-old daughter Matilda.

Cuoco was married twice before; firstly to tennis pro Ryan Sweeting from 2013 to 2016 and then to Karl Cook from 2018 to 2022.

Recently, Kaley revealed that she and Tom sleep in separate rooms - because he couldn't get any sleep sharing a bed with the actress, their daughter and their pet dogs.

Appearing on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, she revealed: "He was like, 'I can't do this anymore.' And I'm like, 'I understand.' So he started sleeping in the guest room.

"At first, I'm like, 'What will people think?' And he's like, 'I never see you at night.' I don't see him. It's not our sexy time. We don't cuddle. We don't see each other at night. He goes, 'Why do you care?' And I sat there, and I went, 'God, I don't care.' And he goes, 'Let's try it.'"

Kaley insists it is the "best decision we ever made", adding: "He writes at night. He reads, It's his quiet time. So he's up late and wakes up late on a non-working day. We established this from day one. I go to bed early, and I wake up early. We're totally on different sleeping schedules."

The Graham Norton Show airs in the UK on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday (13.02.26) at 10.40pm.
