Former police officer pleads guilty to raft of charges

A former police officer has pleaded guilty to a raft of charges over the theft of more than 630-thousand dollars from a Taranaki Maori trust he was in charge of

Shaun Joseph Keenan admitted 49 charges in the New Plymouth District Court but pleaded not guilty to another eight.

A disputed facts hearing's been requested as there's some dispute to the amount of money taken from Ngati Te Whiti Whenua Topu Trust.

Keenan served as chief executive of the Trust, and as project manager for its 4.5 million dollar marae project.

He's opted for a judge alone trial on the not guilty pleas.
