Mycoplasma bovis is expected to have little effect on the price of milk

The Government's going ahead with a plan to eradicate the cattle disease, rather than contain it.

The Dairy Companies Association say the effect on dairy prices would be marginal.

Executive director Kimberly Crewther says the entire cattle herd is 10 million cows and the disease is only affecting one percent of it.

She says only a proportion of them are dairy cows.
