Shane Jones is considering legal action against former Fonterra director Mark Townsend

    Fonterra

It comes after Mark Townsend implied party donations could be influencing the NZ First MP's criticism of Fonterra leadership.

Jones says that was foolish and completely unnecessary, and he's waiting for advice from his lawyer on whether to issue proceedings.

He says he doesn't know Mr Townsend, has never come across him, and it's important people realise you can't fling those kinds of accusations around without there being consequences.
