Nearly 50-millimetres of rain fell in Otago over 24-hours, causing surface flooding and slips.
More rain is forecast this afternoon - falling on already sodden ground and swollen rivers.
But the Dunedin City Council say it's not expecting any more major issues, but will be keeping a close eye on the situation.
It says wastewater surcharges affected some roads and properties around the city - and people should avoid waterways for at least two days.
