A California judge has dismissed child sexual assault charges against Nick Philippoussis because the Australian tennis coach "is completely incapacitated" and near death after suffering a stroke in jail

The 68-year-old faced spending the rest of his life behind bars after he was accused of raping two nine-year-old girls he trained in San Diego.
He had pleaded not guilty.
Just over a year ago, when Philippoussis was held in San Diego county jail after being unable to post $US9.2 million in bail, he suffered the stroke.
He has been bedridden since, unable to communicate and being fed via a tube.
