32-year-old David Sawtell was sentenced to two years in prison in the Dunedin District Court - after pleading guilty to possessing objectionable publications.
Scout's South Island regional manager Chris Wilson says they were shocked and disappointed to learn of the offending.
He says after they were informed of the charges - a senior volunteer met with Sawtell and got an assurance none of the children involved or harmed were Scouts.
Wilson says their thoughts are with the many parents and volunteer leaders who've suffered a massive breach of trust.
