Half centuries from Suzie Bates and captain Amy Satterthwaite have anchored New Zealand's chase of 150, having earlier bowled out the visitors for 149.
Bates says their bowlers laid the platform.
She says Satterthwaite has worked closely with the bowlers about their plans, and Anna Peterson led from the front with the execution.
The sides now turn their attention to the three Twenty20s - the first of which is on Wednesday in Wellington.
