The double Olympic rowing champion will compete in the single sculls at this week's nationals at Lake Ruataniwha, with current New Zealand seat-holder Manson the man to beat.
Drysdale's yet to beat Manson in a competitive race since returning from a lengthy break at the start of last year, as he works towards his long-term goal of racing at the Tokyo Games.
He says the chance to win another national title also appeals and Manson provides world-class competition.
The national trials are early next month.
