Westpac says the New Zealand economy is extraordinarily ordinary
20 February 2019
The bank has just released its latest quarterly Economic Overview.
Chief economist Dominick Stephens says the economy is in an incredibly balanced state right now.
He says the economy is neither operating too fast nor too slow.
Unemployment and the exchange rate are also sitting about average, as well as inflation being on the Reserve Bank's target.
Stephens says the economy is expected to regain momentum this year, after a clear slow down last year.
