Jetstar is pulling its Dunedin to Wellington route, saying it has not performed as well as it had hoped

It currently runs three times a week, and the final service will be on May 29.

Instead, Jetstar's announced it will be increasing flights between the capital and Queenstown.

Dunedin Airport chief executive Richard Roberts says the news is disappointing.

However, he says he understands the route is a difficult one to sustain... and appreciates the airline needs to look at what makes economic sense.
