An Invercargill man who raped a woman while she was in hospital has been jailed for eight years and a month

49-year-old Robert Neho appeared in Invercargill District Court yesterday after being found guilty by a jury in January.

Judge Mark Callaghan says the woman was preparing to shower at Southland hospital, when the defendant approached and grabbed her from behind.

Neho was acquitted on other charges, including kidnapping and assault with intent to injure.
