The country's law enforcement future could literally be in good hands after the New Zealand Police set up a recruitment drive at Lake Karapiro for the Maadi Cup secondary schools rowing regatta

During spells from the oars, competitors were encouraged to take part in push-up and grip-strength tests to see whether they might be fit for life on the beat.
Waikato Police new cop support officer Kimiora Corness was heartened by how determined some of the competitors were.
