17 May 2019
28-year-old Queenstown pilot, Mitch Gameren, died alongside six-tourists when his scenic Fox Glacier helicopter flight - plunged into a crevasse more than three years ago.
Alpine Adventures owner, James Scott and organisational systems manager, Barry Waterland are being sentenced in the Christchurch District Court, under the Health and Safety Act.
The Civil Aviation Authority has submitted there were eight-practical steps Scott could've taken to protect staff and passengers - including in weight and balance? and staff training.
It found staff weren't suitably trained ... and Scott had an arms-length approach to his operation.
